Two baseline tests for the start of GCSE maths – one for the Foundation tier and one for the Higher tier. Both are calculator papers lasting one hour and worth 60 marks, and they share some questions so you can see which tier suits a student best.
What it covers
- Foundation: forming and using expressions, factorising and expanding, square and prime numbers, percentages, similar triangles, circles, mean and range, trapezium area, pie charts, probability
- Higher: Heron's formula, factorising quadratics, VAT/reverse percentages, congruence proofs, compound area problems, estimated mean from grouped data, Pythagoras, comparing data and probability
Who it's for
Year 10 students (age 14–15) starting GCSE maths, or Year 9 students deciding on a tier.

Sit in one hour with a calculator. No mark scheme is included – a tutor can help identify gaps.
